Hyland Mather wurde 1971 in Corvallis, Oregon, geboren. Er wuchs in Alaska auf. Derzeit teilt er seine Studiozeit zwischen Amsterdam in den Niederlanden und der Silberküste in Portu- gal. 1994 schloss er sein Studium der Philosophie mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Ästhetik an der Colorado State University ab. Am bekanntesten ist er für konstruktivistische und geo- metrische Assemblagen aus gefundenen oder, wie er sagt, „verlorenen Objekten“. Sein Gesamtschaffen erstreckt sich über viele Medien, darunter Wandmalerei, Arbeiten auf Papier und Leinwand sowie Werke in Stahl, Licht und Klang.

He graduated from Colorado State University in 1994 with a degree in philosophy and a focus on aesthetics. Best known for constructivist and geometric assemblage of found or as he says ‘lost objects’, his overall practice extends through many mediums including mural painting, works on paper and canvas as well as works in steel, light and sounds.
