TUHMAT
"Our artistic research of healing thermal waters has taken us around the world from Icelandic hot pools to Italy’s steamy streams and back to the Finnish sauna. From the land of a hundred thousand lakes to the land of healing thermal waters we want to emphasize the ancient knowledge of sacred water. We continue our research with Bad Gastein’s thermal baths and bathing culture – an abundant source of emotional and spiritual well-being."
Bio:
Tuhmat is a multidisciplinary artist collective working on multisensory art experiences from a neurodiverse perspective within the fields of visual arts, media art, performance, installation and sound art. They embrace soft spaces for radical rest and non-binary bodies, queering the landscape through performances and temporary interventions, changing perceptions of places and creating site-specific collective memories, rituals and post-religious ceremonies. Artist, designer Susse Seppälä (they/them) and sound artist, architect Joonas Parviainen (they/them) currently work on the themes of rituals, death and healing. In an ever more hostile world they are driven by the need to create spaces of trust, community and sharing.
